KENYA

Kenya in East Africa is a vast country, home to 41 million people. While Kenya’s capital city, Nairobi, is a major commercial hub, there are approximately 15 million people in rural areas living in extreme poverty. Faced with everything from famine to AIDs to political unrest, most children do not make it past their eighth year of school.

The lack of affordable and sustainable electricity exacerbates the problem, and Kenya’s need for light is huge. By bringing solar-powered lights to these rural areas, Energizer® and One Million Lights are giving children the ability to study at night after they’ve completed their work in the fields, while allowing their families to continue working into the evening to help provide for their children’s futures.

The Energizer® solar lights are doing more than illuminating homes for those in Kenya, they are giving families the power to change their lives for good.
